Unlike the other games I’ve worked on, I was the world builder for this project. This was my first time working with Unity, so we had to use some online assets, but I was able to learn and adjust to it pretty quickly. This environment was created using Unity, which is also my first time using Unity. Utilizing Unity’s features, I built and shaped an underwater terrain and I changed the gravity to simulate swimming. I took inventory of my models and made a sketch mockup of what we envisioned for the world. My teammates created and shared the 3D assets with me and I placed them around the world. My idea was to create multiple scenes in this world so there’s more to look at rather than simply displaying the models like a gallery. We were directed to create a world, not a game, so there is no “main objective” of this. The user can simply walk around and jump around the environment. I worked on this project the same semester I was graduating, so I couldn’t spend time making my own 3D models since I had to focus on other final projects and preparing for graduation. However, I was able to sketch out some models I had in mind, which some teammates took inspiration from.
